Exaggeration. That’s what most of us are good at.Probably that’s what best to keep a dialogue alive and get magnified in a course of conversation.Yeah..:S
For storytelling this week,I think I probably enjoyed myself a little bit due to a a dirty little secret or what you might want to call a conspiracy the whole class were ganged up on. It was deifinitely obvious and plus plus point,HILARIOUS,at how all of us tried to maintain a complete absence of sound during the short quiz we had.The test you ask?I would say it was not killing grueling piece of mind-blowing list of questions. It’s just that if you have done your obligated revision,I guess it would be like a breezzzeee.HOWEVER,I,for one,was not the ONE to be enjoying the blow,yo!I met sahara.
DESERT!!!
After which,we had to do some dialogue and I think I did enjoy it for sure!Ok,that didn’t sound a bit convincing! It was gratifying-ly farny!Especially Jordus’ explicit piece of conversation! It made me chuckle so hard,I didn’t realize I was sitting with both my legs wide open.like, very, very unladylike! Not that I always act like one but most of the time,I have to admit that,I DON’T!:P.But it was still unsightly of me to do such a pose.No doubt!:s
After having our mouth all toned out of all the laughing,we were back to business.(woa!)We watched a couple of short stories (was it a couple?or only one?)such as Autograph. It was nice watching something you can relate to so well,so much so that you could somehow picture yourself in the character and I think that’s what make a movie a successful one. When audience can identify the character with themselves, whether it’s their past, when they were a child or even in their current state. They would laugh, cry, get angry if any of the others (probably the antagonist of course) make fun of them, torture them or even leave them. Therefore,I thought Autograph was really a simple story but one which was unquestionably unpretentious and with lots of human relationships thematic values which we should sometimes sit back and ponder over.At the end of the day,no matter how much you earn a day or occupied with things in life, you must know that the people around you are the ones you’ll look for when you’re in deep trouble or feeling down. There never is a person who can stand all his life not making any contacts to a single living human being. Same goes for things like conflict, dialogue and things like that, those we’ve covered.:D
HAIL TO THE “PEOPLE TO THE PEOPLE”!!!
Whatever that means!
AND SO,today,or probably yesterday,I went to watch Annie Hall with Dayah! The movie captured my attention the moment Ms Mel played a segment of it during class.I was probably more interested to watch Woody Allen then the movie itself!Believe me or not.I thought he was someone with great insight! And yes!He turn out to be one with a vast of nonsensical yet witty and sardonic ideas and comments in life!I’m not kidding!(see the number of exclamation marks I’m using and you know I’m not kidding ya!).Alright, don’t,just don’t imagine me to be some psychotic tudung girl who’s obssessed with Woody Allen or that sort of thing ok!?
Woody Allen in Annie Hall. This was back in 1977.You might not his look then but I’m telling you something,if you ever watch his movie and listen to his lines, you would watch him in awe.Not kidding. He’s got this vibe of my-sarcasm-would-make-you-laugh-till-you-can’t-forget-about-me!Again,I’m not exaggerating.
I think he still look good for a 72 year old.He somewhat reminds me of my grandpa.Only that mine doesn’t like long-sleeve shirts and coats. He loathes them!haha!
Allen’s statue made in great appreciation of his work all this while. He was born in New York and had his statue in Spain. How proud can one be!
By the way,I realize something really unintentional. Most of my favourite icons sounds like air-learn.Ellen DeGeneres(no doubt!),Ian McKellen(the star wars guy) and now,Woody Allen!OMG!Big deal right!:P
My intention was to actually point out one of the lines in Annie Hall which had me laughing my ass off (oopss!) on the couch with crumbs of potato chips spread all over my shirt!Take a look at this:
Annie Hall: So you wanna go into the movie or what?
Alvy Singer: No, I can’t go into a movie that’s already started, because I’m anal.
Annie Hall: That’s a polite word for what you are.
This conversation made clear of things like:
1) Annie was getting frustated of Alvy making a big fuss out of a two-minute miss of the show(which only meant some advertisements. The show hasn’t even begin!)
2)She was trying to tell him “It’s now or NEVAAA!”
3) And “So,you have some other great plans you have in that head of yours is it?You toooottt!!!”
4)Alvy knows he’s anal.
5) He confessed! That’s a pretty nutcase if you’re bold enough to say you’re anal for such a matter!
6)Alvy was simply trying to convey something to Annie.”Don’t you get it in your head!!!!!I don’t want to go in!”
7) Annie was trying to be sarcastic
8)She was trying to say that the word anal didn’t suit him and there must be another terribly disrespectful word to use to describe him.
ok.could come up with seven. I like the one the most as it really backfires Alvy by all the sarcasm he has thrown to many around him so far.
And so you see,in a dialogue,it can help to convey the message a character is trying to transmit to another, their feelings(anger in this case),purpose of saying so(making Annie angry) ,the relationship between Alvy and Annie which was obviously unfeeling and despicably hurting and most importantly,to me at least,it tells us of the character’s attributes/personality. Like for example, when Alvy said that he’s anal about having to enter the theater a minute later,we really did see him as an anal individual all along the movie. With a tinge of boredom!!!!
Alright,that’s all for now!well,see you an!d
